Model United Nations
Model United Nations is an authentic simulation of the United Nations General Assembly and other sub-groups of the United Nations. Chapel School is one of over 200,000 high schools and colleges throughout the world that partake in MUN. The purpose of Model United Nations is to involve students in the study and discussion of global issues and politics in the hope that they will strive to make the world a better place to live when they are the leaders. Students who participate will research, write and publicly debate their assigned nation’s stance on the forum issues.
Beyond the obvious educational benefits of joining MUN, it also offers a wonderful opportunity to make new friends and interact with students from schools all over South America. Each year, Chapel participates in the local SPMUN (which we hosted in 2006) and the Brazilian MUN, held in Angra dos Reis. In closing, if you are interested in politics, public speaking, role playing and making new friends in a fun, relaxing environment, then MUN is for you.
