Math Counts
Math Counts is a competition for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. Together with students from Graded, PACA, Campinas, Brasilia and Rio, students sit for three tests involving mathematics.
The tests consist of individually solved problems (with no use of a calculator), eight questions of three minutes each, and a set of ten group-work questions. The top ten students are chosen for the Countdown section. There will be one winner, who is invited to compete with other students in the U.S.A. Chapel only participates in the local contest.
The students who are invited to participate are those who have quick understanding and computational skills, normally do very well in mathematics and are able to solve problems by using their intuition as well as knowledge.
